Clan MacInnes was led by the mighty Somerled MacGillbride in the Battle of Morvern against the Viking after their clan chief was killed in battle. They fought ferociously and drove the Vikings from Morvern and most of the mainland of Scotland. During the Jacobite Rebellions the MacInnes fought on both sides however, the MacInnes of Morvern, Lochaber and Appin fought with the Stewarts of Appin for Bonnie Prince Charlie. Clan MacInnes is wrought with a history that is both legendary and tragic and there exists no clan chief to this day. |

Somerled was killed at the onset of the Battle of Renfrew and his forces quickly dispersed when he was slain by a traitor among his ranks. |
